Specialty: Kleinian psychoanalysis

Krystyna Bielecka

Short Biography

Dr. Krystyna Bielecka has completed her training in the Kleinian tradition of psychoanalysis at the Hanna Segal Institute for Psychoanalytic Studies. The psychotherapy she conducts is under the supervision of experienced psychotherapists. By education, she is a philosopher and deals with one of the classic epistemological questions: what is the relationship between reality and thought. She interprets this question in terms of contemporary philosophy of mind, thus dealing with the issue of how mental representations can relate to reality. This issue of the philosophy of mind is particularly important for cognitive science, psychology, ethology, psychiatry, and artificial intelligence research.

Dr. Bielecka carried out the NCN PRELUDIUM grant The Significance of the Concept of Misrepresentation in Contemporary Theories of Mental Representation (2013-2016), and then in the NCN SONATA program Psychopathologies from the Perspective of Anti-representationalism. A Critical Analysis. The result of the first grant is, among others, a monograph published in 2019, Błądzę, więc myślę (I Err, Therefore I Think). Its English translation was accepted for publication by Springer Nature in the SAPERE Series. She also participated in the project What is Thinking in Images?, led by Dr. Piotr Kozak.

She defended her doctoral thesis "The Significance of the Concept of Misrepresentation in Theories of Mental Representation", supervised by Prof. Katarzyna Paprzycka-Hausman, in 2016 at the Faculty of Philosophy and Sociology of the University of Warsaw. Since 2020, she has been associated with the Department of Epistemology and Cognitive Science at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Białystok. In the years 2020-2023, she received a scholarship from the Minister of Science and Higher Education for outstanding young scientists.
